1929 Model A

Owner : Sam Foose

This Ford Model A Sedan built by Sam Foose is owned by Pete DeMaria. This is the first car to have a set of Pilot seats installed, they are covered in MB Tex vinyl as well as the rest of the car. The headliner is a one off with custom overhead console that incorporates the stereo and speakers. The dash has a soft covered panel to integrate the hard painted dash with the rich upholstery. The rear seat is also a one off built to provide the room these cars deserve. The carpet is German squareweave and the dash does have storage tray. Incredibly, there are 6x9 speakers in the rear quarter panels, this can only be done when the interior is thought out as a whole project. The color is Palomino with perforated inserts.

1929 Model A Roadster

There is a tray under the dash for storage along with a radio and the carpet is bourbon loop Porsche. Gary Hopper is responsible for building this beautiful street rod. Along with a folding top and headliner, this car has a custom built seat, under dash stereo and full stereo system. British Everflex was used for this interior, and Haartz Stayfast G was used for the top. The trunk has removable floors for access to storage. There are window control switches and door handles underneath the custom armrests. If you get a chance to see this car, take it! Its subtle, but if you look long enough, you will see the many modifications this car has inside and out.

1932 Ford Three Window Custom Hot Rod

Owner: Lane Rollins

This rod was built by Gary Hopper of Nevada City. This car was built to provide miles of high horsepower, high performance with a blown small block Chevy. Gary and Lane went with Miller Speed Sport exhaust cut-outs, if you haven't seen them, they look like a giant cigar cutter, and give you the opportunity to run zoomies and traditional muffler back exhaust. When they are open, they sound like a top fuel dragster!! The interior has a contemporary look with a touch of 60's dragster. Rich hand built the bench seat to have separate buckets but fit with the style of the car. The seats have a touch of diamond pleat with a splash of French stitching and a bunch of leather thrown in for good measure. Also, the diamonds found their way on to the trunk panels and upper console. The dash also sports a hand built cap that was lightly padded and covered in leather. There is the traditional Santana under dash treatment as well. The car also sports a killer sound system that was custom painted to match the car. The trunk was also trimmed out to match the interior with leather, diamonds and stereo equipment. A neat little detail to the trunk is the cubby above the tank, it has a stainless rod to keep smaller items from falling.

1932 Australian Bodied Cabriolet

Owners : Willa and Dallas Paul

The owners let Rich go with no boundaries on the interior. First, Rich contracted Airpoint Precision to build a one-off billet dash insert, housing the gauges, indicators, and two storage compartments hidden behind doors (look for the split next to the gauges). High Octane Blue is the color of the interior, so they decided the dash should match. Dropping down to the package tray, Rich made a stainless steel "guard rail" for the lip of the tray, it wraps around the package tray for a "Deadmans Curve" look and disappears into the radio box. The under dash also conceals all required instruments for operation. The car came to Rich in primer, so he used that opportunity to mock up a waterfall style center console in foam and then called on Carl Neeley to work his fiberglass magic on the buck. While Rich was at it, he had Carl fiberglass the door tops to wrap into the Santana designed dash. Thank you to Carl Neeley of Glaspro (530) 333-2472.

1933 Ford Three Window Coupe

Owner: Bob Scarlett

This '33 Three Window Coupe is about as bad as bad can get. Steel, Blown 454, Halibrand Quick-change, chopped by Marcel, and a stereo that has more headroom than the Tabernacle. This coupe has all leather, black suede headliner, and a TON of stereo. Did we mention that the stereo in this thing is awesome? The coolest part about the interior is that it looks traditional, but hidden inside is serious sound. The seat is custom Santana built bench, covered in Connelly black leather. The door panels are also covered in leather as well as the kicks, and rear quarters. The one piece suede headliner is pleated, but absorbs the road noise. The trunk was also treated to fine stitch work as well with some pretty trick work to hide batteries and other audio equipment.

1933 Ford Roadster

Owner(s) : Phil Green & Al Megenity

Rich Santana features include modified, race-type bucket seating and Auto Meter gauges.

1933 Ford Roadster

Owner : Rich Boyd

If this roadster looks familiar, it's because it's been in Rod & Custom magazine more than a few times. This car belongs to Rich Boyd of Primedia fame. It has been the subject of many build articles and was a feature in Hot Rod magazine. The top was featured in a top article in R&C and after relocating to the gold country, Rich finished the car in time for the Grand National Roadster Show in '99. Boyd belongs to the LA Roadsters club and has enjoyed many miles in this car. It includes a custom covered dash, rumble seat, and interior covered in Mercedes Tex vinyl and Mercedes velour carpet. The inserts on the panels and seat are from perforated matching vinyl. These pictures are also showing the hand-built, removable, foldable top covered in Stayfast material. The light weight bows are hand formed from aluminum tube. The top collapses for easy storage in the trunk.

1933 Ford Pickup

Owner: Mike Cooper

Mike Cooper spent seven years transforming his 1933 Ford pickup into a one-of-a-kind wild rod known as The Tubester. Chopped, channeled, and scooped, The Tubester took on an identity of its own when Mike created a custom header exhaust system like no other. Twisted tubes spill out of a 355ci Chevy 4 bolt V-8 with a 6-71 Teflon-lined blower, Carter 650-cfm carburetor and custom billet aluminum air intake, to mention only a few of the incredible modifications Mike has made to the engine compartment. Taking a look at the dashboard, truck bed and flooring one can only wonder how Mike managed to harness all that creativity before taking it all out on The Tubester! Customized to house radiators and engine cooling fans, the truck bed is covered by a ventilated floor of wooden tubes perfectly formed and molded to match the lines of the bed. What a perfect balance to the tangled tubes of the front end.

Interior is tanned leather.

And if you are wondering if The Tubester sounds as loud as it looks….the answer is YES!

The carpet is tan German square weave and the top is blue harrtz stayfast. The underside of the dash is standard Santana featuring courtesy light, power port and misc. switches. Thanks to Art for keeping this Woodie really nice after so many miles.

1937 Chevy

Owners : Tom & Cheryl Lincoln

This car has so many bitchin' little things we did to it. We won the Manuel Arteche award at the Sacramento Autorama in '03 with the car, that is the most outstanding interior of the show. Hand formed aluminum mesh, hand built aluminum molding, 72 inch long dome light in upper console, purple/blue mood lighting, kick ass stereo. This car was a four month project at my shop. We even removed his vent windows in the doors and installed one piece CURVED glass, cut from the front windshield of a full size Blazer. New wheels, 110 volt lighting circuit for the indoor shows, new digital readouts, one-off air-ride gauge switch cluster, integrated third brake light in the rear window molding. You get the idea. We're taking this car down to Pomona for the Grand National Roadster show Jan. 22 to run for the interior award there. Then we'll take it to the Detroit Autorama, that's the big dog.

1937 Ford Sedan

Owner : Ray Shields

This is a good example of a quality interior completed with a budget in mind. It features tweed and cut pile carpet. And as with most of Rich's work it features many custom built touches through out.

1937 Ford Phaeton

Owner: Rick Plato

This car was purchased needing some TLC and Rick shipped it to Mike of DiMatteo's Street Rods in Santa Rosa, Ca. Mike did some motor mods, suspension upgrades and decided to have Santana's redo the out dated tweed interior. Rich used the original T-Bird seats and custom built a rear seat to match. The panels were also given the upgrade treatment as well as the trunk and headliner. The material used were OEM vinyl and German Squareweave carpeting. A new stereo was also thrown in to make this ride a customer favorite. If you're ever in the Bay Area, keep an eye out for the Dentist with the big smile, that's Rick.

1938 Chevy 4 door sedan

Owner : John Marsceline

Prime example of "Working with a budget". Hard headliner with matching visors. Re-worked stock seats. Custom made rear armrests. Trunk covered in trunk lining with spare tire cover. This car took approximately 2 1/2 weeks!!

1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible

Owner(s): Brent & Stephanie Schieder

Dominator Motorsports built this '39 convertible for the 2004 Detroit Autorama. We built custom door sills, custom bulkhead, one off billet trim and covered the Recaro seats in buckskin leather. Included in some of the trick stuff is the Santana made custom gas, brake and dimmer pedals.

Also take a good look at the valve covers. The owner didn’t have a plan for the valve covers, so at the last minute, we built custom fiberglass covers and covered them in leather.

Also, Carl Brouhard worked his magic on the engine cover with his airbrush mastery to match the inside chrome trim. That’s a first!! Leather covered valve covers….

Rich stitched up the Recaro seats and interior trim pieces in tan leather with perforated leather inserts. Rich completed the trim with German wool carpets on the floors and in the trunk.

1941 Ford pickup

Owner(s) : Bert & Anne Delvillano

This '41 Ford Pickup was a unique challenge given the "stretch" cab design (by Greg Barker). Unlike most Ford pick ups, we created a smooth "new car" transition from the dash to the door panels. Rich designed a unique storage system under the front seats, including CD changer, speakers, 2 drawers, and 2 additional storage compartments.

1950 Oldsmobile

Owner(s): Cliff and Terri Cortwright

Cliff loves to drive his cars, so we did a very traditional 50's 60's style tuck 'n' roll interior in MBTex vinyl. We used the original trim stainless and rebuilt the seats with new foam. Owner: Gene Garrison

Features include: Santana built seats- front and rear, custom arm rests, and the new "Simplex" headliner by Santana Interiors.

1955 T-Bird

Owners : Fred & Cindy Capellas

This is what happens when a customer wants high-tech seating in a traditional car. Rich removed the stock bench seat and replaced it with custom built buckets that are ergonomically updated, but have a traditional look. He also hand built the console which flows from behind the seats down between them, ending in a custom fabricated aluminum trim plate, housing machined turned stainless steel to match the door panels. The console also has a hinged armrest, as well as the new double cup holder and storage under the armrest. Covered in matching material, the panel behind the seats house a killer sound system. This goes to show that all that is seen might deceive you.

1957 Wagon

Owner: Matt Moscato

This wagon is definitely a nice driver. The car was a basket case when Matt bought it and he has done a great job putting it back together. Covered in MB Tex black vinyl and factory grey GM cloth, this car has enough traditional trim on the inside to keep the cars theme on track. However, notice the pleated section on the panels, it has a little kick to make the design stand out a little more. Thank you to Matt for being patient and letting us take the time on the car. The car also has a one piece headliner molded into the front and the rear.

1960 Chevrolet Corvette

Owner: John and Carol DeVry

This Vette was built by the late Rick Leonard of Special Interest Auto's of Oregon. The car has all late model Vette suspension and an LS1 motor. The interior was designed to enhance the upgraded performance angle as well. Santana hand built the dash, console and bucket seats. Also on the list was to scratch build all the trunk panels and door panels. The interior is covered in MB Tex vinyl and uses German Squareweave carpeting. The top is a production EZ On top made from Haartz Stayfast cloth. Rich had Carl Brouhard custom paint the grab handle coving to match the engine valve covers. Although the dash looks like a stock Vette dash, when placed side by side, there is a huge difference in style. The custom built door panels are also one off items from Santana Interiors. The car also sports a rockin' stereo installed by Santana's.

1961 Pontiac Catalina

Believe it or not the front bench is actually the factory frame with custom padding and covered in German vinyl.

1969 Mecury Cougar

Owned by: Ray and Jane Wesner

Ray always wanted to build a car in his youth, and decided there was no better time than the present. So off he went to build a unique and stand out hot rod. Big Bock Ford power, lots of IT, mini tubbed, bagged all four corners, and discs all around. The car has subtle treatments on the outside and the interior matches the theme. Rich started out with stock front seat frames, but made all new foam and built the rear seat to match. Even with a narrowed rear end, Rich was able to get 7 more inches width than the stock rear seat, due to rear panel design and execution. The console also has a stock look, but has been highly modified to house window switches and air system. It also has a storage area under the custom armrest. The material used is MB Tex vinyl and German Squareweave carpet. That same material was used in the trunk as well. Rich had custom machined pieces made for the fuel lid and horn button by Excalibur Machine in Diamond Springs, Ca. The high point of this car for the owners, besides driving the wheels off it, was being invited to the 2008 Fresno Autorama by Blackie Gejian while at the '08 Sacramento Autorama.

'03 Chevy Crew Cab

Owner: Jake Windham

Here is a sport truck with a little hot rod in it. Freestyle motocrosser Jake Windham contracted Rich to zip out his truck in time for the 03 SEMA show. Here's what a week at Rich's shop got him. The inserts of the seats and doors were replaced with maroon suede, embroidered with the Santana logo. The hand grab and upper console were also treated to the suede treatment. Rich also installed two video screens into the headrests, and if you look closely you might be able to spot the video screen in the rearview mirror. Sport truck owners are now starting to get the idea that you need more than a stereo guy to make your truck interior look kick ass! Just look for the logo, and you'll find award winning quality and detail.

DuPont Domintor

Owner(s): Dominator Motorsports (Oakley, CA), Leonard Lopez and Tommy Enca.

You can't have ho-hum threads when the rest of the rod is so advanced! Rich Santana (Diamond Springs, CA) took the job, creating seats using mahogany (with steel bracing), then covering and saddle-stitched custom-dyed leather in a wrap-around method that foresakes traditional sideseams or skirting. Cover Car for Street Rodder.
